Quebec City Dispensary Guide: Why Some Capitale-Nationale Cannabis Shoppers Make the Drive to Bear’s Den

If you are looking for a Quebec City dispensary with a deeper menu, here is the honest answer first: Bear’s Den Cannabis is not in Quebec City. We are a single, Indigenous-women-owned shop at 1510B Rang Ste-Philomène in Kanesatake, near Oka, roughly three hours west of the capital, and we have welcomed shoppers who make that drive since 2018.

We do not deliver, and we have no store in the Capitale-Nationale. What we offer is a full counter, a team that takes its time with you, and phone ordering so your products are ready when you arrive.

Where to buy cannabis in Quebec City

Inside Quebec City, the answer is the SQDC. Under Quebec’s rules it is the only retailer the province authorizes to sell cannabis, it has stores in the city, and in-store purchases are capped at 30 grams of dried cannabis or its equivalent per visit. If you are searching for a specific SQDC branch or its hours, the SQDC’s own store locator is the reliable source; we do not publish their details here.

Are there other dispensaries in Quebec? Some independent shops, ours included, operate on Indigenous territory outside the provincial system, under positions they assert themselves. We explain ours plainly further down this page.

Who makes the trip from Quebec City

The shoppers who drive out to us usually fall into three groups:

  • Montreal-bound travellers who are already heading west for work or family and add a stop near Oka.
  • Stock-up shoppers who would rather make one planned visit with a list than several small runs.
  • Day-trippers who pair the visit with Oka National Park and the lakeshore.

If the SQDC already covers what you want, we will say so plainly. If you are after a style of hash, a vape format or an edible you have not found, a call to our team is the fastest way to know whether the drive makes sense.

What Quebec City shoppers come in for

Hash

Our hash selection includes traditional styles such as blonde and red Lebanese, temple ball and hunter hash. Ask us what is on the shelf before you leave.

Vape pens

We carry rechargeable and dual-flavour THC vape pens from brands like Drizzle Switch, Heisenberg Extractions and Pegasus Live. Tell us how you use them and we will point you to the right format.

Edibles

Our cannabis edibles cover gummies, chocolate, cookies, hot chocolate and drink mixes. Edibles take longer to kick in than smoking, so we always suggest starting low and going slow. For any health question, please speak with a licensed practitioner.

Flower, pre-rolls, concentrates and CBD are all on our full cannabis menu, which is the best place to build your list before a long drive.

The drive from Quebec City

Distance: roughly 300 km, usually about three to three and a half hours by car depending on traffic and where you start.

Route: follow Autoroute 40 west along the north shore through Trois-Rivières, switch to Autoroute 640 west across the North Shore suburbs past Terrebonne, Boisbriand and Saint-Eustache, then continue on Route 344 west along Lac des Deux Montagnes through Oka. Route 344 becomes Rang Ste-Philomène just past the village. This way you skip the island of Montreal entirely.

You can get directions to 1510B Rang Ste-Philomène on Google Maps for live traffic. If you are stopping in the city on the way, our Montreal page covers routes from the island.

The legal picture, told straight

The SQDC is Quebec’s only government-authorized cannabis retailer. Under Quebec’s cannabis rules, the minimum age is 21, the public possession limit is 30 grams of dried cannabis or its equivalent, and home cultivation is prohibited.

Bear’s Den operates outside that provincial system, under asserted Indigenous-sovereignty principles on Sovereign Kanesatake Mohawk Territory. That is our own position. We are not the SQDC, we are not part of its framework, and we do not speak for federal or provincial authorities. On a long drive home, please never drive high.

Worth the drive from the capital

Fair everyday pricing, a no-pressure team and a counter that has been open since 2018: that is what we offer every shopper who comes west. Browse the menu, call (866) 306-2882 Ext. 2 to set your order aside, and visit us in Kanesatake.
