Keeping a strong bag safe at home

Large-dose gummies tend to sit in a cupboard for weeks. That is when accidents happen: a guest, a child or a pet finds what looks like candy. A few habits help:

• Keep the gummies in the original labelled package, never in a candy dish or an unmarked bag.
• Store them in a locked box or a high cabinet, apart from regular snacks.
• Do not offer them to guests who have not chosen cannabis and do not know the dose.

If someone eats a cannabis edible by accident, call your local poison centre or emergency services right away.

Timing

Edibles are slow. Health Canada notes that when cannabis is eaten, effects can begin anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours later and can last up to 24 hours. Health Canada suggests new consumers look for edibles with 2.5mg of THC or less, and it can take up to 4 hours to feel the full effects. This bag is for experienced users: read the per-piece figure, start with a small portion, and never re-dose because you feel nothing yet. Do not drive or drink alcohol.

Who it suits

Adults with a high, well-known tolerance. Skip it if you are new to edibles, pregnant or breastfeeding, or on medication, and ask a doctor or pharmacist about health questions.

How long a bag like this lasts

For most experienced customers, a 1200mg bag covers many sessions. That is convenient, but it also means the gummies may sit around for a while. Check the package for a best-before date, keep it sealed between uses, and do not move the gummies into a different container where the label and dose information get lost.
