What Health Canada’s experts say about CBD

Health Canada’s Science Advisory Committee review of CBD reported side effects that can include drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and low energy. It also noted that little is known about CBD taken alongside other medications, and that people with liver conditions may not clear CBD easily.

That is why we ask anyone on medication, or with a health condition, to speak with a pharmacist or doctor before using a high-potency CBD product. We make no health claims about CBD.

Timing

A CBD gummy is still an edible. Health Canada notes that eaten cannabis can take 30 minutes to 2 hours to take effect and can last up to 24 hours, so start with part of a piece and wait before adding more.

Who it suits

Adults who already use CBD regularly and know how it sits with them. New to CBD? Start with a smaller pack. Skip it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises otherwise. Check the label for THC before driving.

Why we include this

We think shoppers deserve the full picture, especially with a high-potency bag. Knowing the reported side effects and the medication question up front lets you make a better decision, and lets your pharmacist give you a useful answer. Bring the package with you when you ask; the CBD per piece and the ingredient list are exactly what they will want to see.

Storage

Keep edibles in their original labelled package, sealed and locked away from children and pets. They look like ordinary candy, which is exactly why they need to be out of reach.
