Hudson Cannabis: Why Locals Skip the Montreal Drive and Head to Bear’s Den

If you are looking for a Hudson dispensary or cannabis near Hudson, Bear’s Den Cannabis is the Indigenous-women-owned shop directly across Lac des Deux Montagnes, at 1510B Rang Ste-Philomène in Kanesatake, near Oka. We are not in Hudson and we do not deliver there. We are one store, open since 2018, with a wide menu, fair everyday pricing and a team that takes its time with you.

So close across the water, much longer by road

From Hudson’s waterfront you can practically see the Oka side. Getting here is another story, because there is no bridge across the lake, so your options are the ferry or a long loop by road.

The Oka-Hudson ferry

When it is running, the Oka-Hudson car ferry is the short way over: a crossing of about two kilometres from the Hudson landing to Oka, then a short drive west on Route 344 to our door. Door to door from central Hudson, that is roughly 30 to 40 minutes including the wait. This season the ferry started late, in early August, on a reduced schedule, and it closes for the winter, so please check the operator’s current schedule before you count on it.

By road

Without the ferry, drive east on Autoroute 40 toward Montreal, take Autoroute 13 north, then Autoroute 640 west to its end, and follow Route 344 west into Oka. West of Oka village, Route 344 becomes Rang Ste-Philomène, and our shop is on it. Plan on roughly an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half, depending on traffic. Parking is free at our door. What Hudson shoppers come in for

Flower and pre-rolls

Our cannabis flower covers indica, sativa and hybrid strains, along with pre-rolls and infused pre-rolls. Tell us what you usually enjoy and our team will walk you through what is on the shelf today.

Edibles

Our cannabis edibles include gummies, chocolate, cookies and hot chocolate mixes. Edibles take longer to kick in than smoking, so start with a small serving and wait before taking more. For any health question, please speak with a licensed practitioner.

Vape pens and the full menu

We also carry THC vape pens, disposables, hash, concentrates and CBD. Browse the full Bear’s Den menu before you set out from Hudson, so the trip covers everything in one stop.

Why we think Bear’s Den is worth the crossing

Hudson shoppers also have the SQDC, Quebec’s government cannabis retailer, as an option; its store finder lists the nearest branches. What we offer is different: an Indigenous-women-owned shop, fair everyday pricing, a broad menu in one place, and staff who ask what you want instead of upselling. We think that is worth the crossing.

The legal picture, told straight

In Quebec, the SQDC is the only government-authorized cannabis retailer. Under Quebec’s cannabis rules, the minimum age is 21, the public possession limit is 30 grams of dried cannabis or its equivalent, and home cultivation is prohibited. Quebec also has zero tolerance for driving with any detectable cannabis in your saliva.

Bear’s Den operates outside that provincial system, under asserted Indigenous-sovereignty principles on Sovereign Kanesatake Mohawk Territory. That is our own position. We are not the SQDC, we are not part of its framework, and we do not speak for federal or provincial authorities. Please never drive high, whichever way you head home.
